Some results on the sharpening and generalizations of an inequality due to Rivlin \cite{rivlin} are obtained. Our results give bounds sharper than the bounds given by all the earlier results in this direction, and also improve upon the recent works of Kumar and Milovanović \cite{KM2022}.
