In this paper we consider some iterative methods for a linear system of equations $Ax=b$ end their connection with the generalized linear method of the Newton-SOR and SOR-Newton type, [12]. Some sufficient conditions for the convergence of the linear method and for the local convergence of the generalized linear method are given.
